PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND REPRESENTATION WORK
Public-facing events and platforms that support visibility and participation for women.
OUR DRIVING FORCE
WOMEN REMAIN UNDERREPRESENTED
in leadership and decision making positions across public, economic and community life.
Globally, women hold around 27% of managerial positions and approximately 26% of seats in national parliaments, indicating persistent gaps in influence and leadership across both economic and civic spaces.
In the UK, women continue to be underrepresented in senior decision-making roles across sectors, particularly at the highest levels of leadership.
VISIBILITY ALONE HAS NOT TRANSLATED
into long term professional development. While participation and visibility initiatives have increased in recent years, evidence shows that many programmes lack structured pathways for sustained development, such as skills-based training, mentoring, and progression opportunities. This gap limits long-term impact and reduces the likelihood that increased visibility leads to lasting leadership capacity.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES ARE UNDERFUNDED
consistently despite their impact. Research into global and UK funding patterns shows that grassroots and women-led organisations receive a disproportionately small share of available funding, often estimated at well under 2% of philanthropic resources, despite delivering high-trust, locally responsive outcomes. Limited access to core funding and institutional support restricts the ability of community-based initiatives to scale or sustain their work.
